Rock Solid Experience in English
Teaching
Since 2003 I taught more than 200 MPs from
Denmark, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania how
to communicate in English in the most
productive and efficient way. In my
experience the best way to teach MPs and
soldiers is to pin point their specific
level and target the teaching at this.
My Basis for Teaching Specialized
I founded the Academic Consulting
Group to
support the Danish Military Police that
expressed a wish to teach English to deploying
troops.
For the past six years I have taught 2-4 teams (consisting
of 5-25 students) each year
and participated in the final preparation of
the teams before going abroad.
Academic Consulting Group also provided support to most of the MP
contingents from Estonia, Latvia and
Lithuania
when these nations participated in missions.
My professional background:
-
Two years as an enlisted sergeant.
-
More than 15 years as a reservist sergeant in the
Military Police
-
Studied History and English at the
University of Southern Denmark
and graduated as Master of Arts.
-
12 months as in a temporary position as
Head of Section at the Logistics Regiment at
Aalborg Barracks.
Utilizing Learning Styles in my Teaching
My experiences mentioned above provide me with a unique insight
in the world of the armed forces, in
different ways of
teaching/reaching soldiers and
with a broad knowledge of
the working of the Army administration at
all levels of Command.
I am a professional
teacher and I not only understand the
principles of learning but have practical
experience in the application of learning
theories in the teaching environment.
For the past five
years I have been employed as a teacher at a
school/home for kids who are unsuitable for
ordinary schools. This job has provided with
with a broad understanding of different
approaches to teaching via the theories of
learning styles.
My Vision: English Teaching in the Armed
Forces
Within a decade I hope that more personnel
within the armed forces of more countries
realize that communication is a forgotten
discipline that is extremely important.
All over the world nations work together
in/for NATO and UN – and to do this
efficiently we must be able to communicate
in one common easy-to-learn-language. And
English would be the best choice since most
countries of the world have this as a part
of their schools' curriculum.
Academic Consulting Group
also offers this approach to specialized
teaching to the armed forces of other
countries. Our techniques are applicable to
any language and is not restricted to native
Danish speakers.
